Longer curricular units that culminate in an extended writing assignment provide English Learners with the opportunity to demonstrate their learning by synthesizing new content and academic language in a higher-order thinking (HOT) task. Learn how to not only ensure that your unit culminating task is HOT, but that it is sufficiently differentiated to allow students at all levels to participate.
